This place.... Right here..... 10/10. The food is always top notch I have absolutely fallen in love with their butter chicken Kota 😍😍 can't go 1 week with out getting my weekly dose of butter chicken Kota
They website says they close at 11pm, but when we got there at 10pm we were told that we cant sit in because they're about to close
The place has so much potential to be an unforgettable experience. You are able to order from and dine in your car but the inconvenience comes with having to move everytime someone behind you was ordering a takeaway. The big screens play adverts on a loop which would have been great if they were screening a movie.
Our first server was amazing but we unfortunately had to switch servers when we decided to move inside.
Overall it was a good first experience and would give it a try again.

Great Curry and Rice Old school Road House meal takes me back a few decades.
I always enjoy going there. I had a Oreo and Peanut butter milkshake. Don't judge, it was delicious. Service was good. There was a gathering of a car club in the parking area, so we got bonus entertainment.
Bought some food today , Ordered 3 food items and 2 drinks…one of the items was Roast Beef , White Cheddar and Gherkin toasted sanwich ….got home No BEEF!!!! and NO Gherkins!!!! …phoned in and they arhued they dont have this item on the menu ….NO Wonder the order was wrong ….What the hell????!….Get your act together
Everytime, exactly the same... And it's awesome! Great service. Great staff, always greeted with a smile. The price is slightly over the edge for some of the items.. but I guess comfort and convenience comes with a price.
The music is always family friendly and energetic, the screen makes it feel like a drive-in showing some of the most viral clips on the internet to keep you entertained whilst waiting for your food.
Sometimes there are people who creat chaos with their lowered cars and crews that come there to make noise. But other than that it's a peaceful and comfortable environment.

Their milkshakes are undefeated! Im moving from the South & will miss their milkshakes so much 😢 their food is ok.

I recently visited Kota Joe in Alberton and I have to say, I really loved the vibe and how the place looks. The atmosphere was great, and both my waitress Happy and the waiter Francis were absolutely wonderful! They were attentive, friendly, and made my experience really pleasant at first.
Unfortunately, what started as a great lunch ended on a sour note because of how the manager treated me towards the end of my meal.
I had ordered a crusher with my food and enjoyed it, so after eating I asked the waitress to surprise me with another flavour of her choice. Sadly, I couldn’t stomach the one she chose, so I politely asked Francis if it could be exchanged. He was kind enough to take it back, but when he returned with the manager, the manager’s attitude was dismissive and unpleasant. He didn’t even take a moment to listen to my concern or explain things with any empathy.
I completely understand if there are policies that prevent exchanges, but it’s how things are handled that makes the difference. I also work in customer service, so I know how important tone and empathy are when dealing with customers — especially those who have supported your business and spent a fair amount.
It’s unfortunate that such a great meal and lovely service from the waitstaff ended with that bitter aftertaste.

They don't disappoint!! If you crazy about chocolate, try the top deck ice cream and waffles. It's the best!! Even the lotus biscoff milkshake😭🔥
Our waitress was very happy chappie …. Food tastes good. My 1st and my best choice - Thank you hubby for the experience - top notch 🎀
Such a nice vibe, and the food is delicious, so many options to choose from. We had the crumbed chicken loaded fries. 10/10 def recommend 👌🏼
What an amazing place!! We visited Kota Joe for the first time today and we will definitely be back. Evelyn was our waitress. She is amazing. Super friendly, fast service and she had a smile on her face the whole time. The atmosphere was awesome. The food is absolutely to die for. The white mousse ferrero & nutella milkshake is by far the best milkshake I've ever had. The burgers are fantastic. KJ dogs are a must try. The crumbed chicken loaded chips are amazing. I had the butter chicken and halloumi wrap.. wow wow wow. The butter chicken is to die for and the added tahini takes it to a whole new level. We are from Vereeniging but we will definitely be making regular visits!! Fantastic fantastic place!!! 5 stars aren't enough!!

My brother introduced me to this place. Now this is where I go for comfort food. I’ve never been disappointed with my choices. Even the ice cream (Oreo) is top tier and the servers are ALWAYS nice 🥺.

I am not the only person that feels the music is loud. It detracts from the overall experience...maybe not for everyone but certainly for a lot of folks....maybe think twice before replying again

It was a beautiful place with the best avocado kota I have ever tasted also their cotton candy and strawberry milkshake was good I would 1 billion percent recommended especially for birthday celebrations or other gatherings
The food was great and so was the service. The food took ages to come out and there wasn't a lot of people. That's the only downside. But, I was happy.
It’s a good spot to eat. Good service whether you decide to eat in the seating area, your own car or takeaway. Food also tastes good and different.

This specific Kota Joes has by far the best location in terms of space and accessibility.

Enjoyed it, I had the new double cheese and bacon burger with an extra soft egg and it was good. The waitresses are always friendly and provide food service. What does need a huge improvement is the telephone orders for takeaways, after like 20.00 I think they said we cannot place telephone orders. This is ridiculous, as much as I can appreciate the fact that there are many people out there that will have bad intentions and order and not collect I find that this is a risk that all food stores need to account for. I have never ordered something and not collected and I order on a weekly basis so this is frustrating. But besides that all good with Cota Joe.

The Coke float was also odd - Not enjoyable. didn’t finish it.

Briljant roadhouse experience. Nice seating inside with friendly staff. A fully packed menu with too much choices, and everything is delicious.
This was a nice place to just sit and relax while enjoying company and of course the food.. 😋

Absolutely loved my visit to Kota Joe Alberton! Their Aero Peppermint and Ferrero Rocher milkshakes are hands down the best in Jozi—rich, decadent and creamy. I also tried the Palm Bae Boba Shake, and it was amazing! This was my first tasting of the Boba shake and certainly not my last. Highly recommend for anyone craving top-tier shakes! 🍹✨

Came here for dinner because we were curious what it was all about. The atmosphere was nice, it was neatly decorated and seeing the outside and have fresh air makes a big difference.
We ordered the rib and chicken platter (think it was a bit too pricey for something small). The ribs were nice but the chicken was basic. We also ordered a chilli cheese kota which was very nice and filling.
We had a passion fruit and watermelon milkshake which was a bit too sweet. Not too sure, it was probably just the flavour that we chose.

The best exotic milkshakes in Gauteng. Creme Brulee milkshake is amazing. Congrats.

No No Kota Joe , your parking in these lanes dont work , a horrible experience . We asked our waiter if we can order & eat & drink in our vehicle in the lane & were told we could. Whilst waiting we were requested to move to the front as the car in front of us just left which we then moved to the right front . Then whilst busy eating , we were was aked to move for car behind us. I told the waitress that you said we can eat in the vehicle , now we have to move. We drove around and parked in different lane at back , just to notice that the car behind us now just pulled to the front where we were in the other lane. Then another waitress came over & said we must park in our waitresses lane that served us as this was her lane . I refused outright to do so and ate finished with my kids. Totally messed up process of lanes & definately Kota Joes you wont see me or my money again - rather train your staff properly to inform patrons properly????.
After the bad experiences I had in December with the service from Kota Joe, I gave a review of the service and I was contacted as soon as possible By a lovely lady named Lindsey Lottering who was very amazing with handling my complaint and dissatisfaction i had with the service. she listen very attentively and very empathetic towards my issue, she then asked if I can give the Roadhouse another chance to make it right by me And blessed me with a nice generous voucher to come and experience the improved service one more time. I’m glad to say I took up that offer and went back with my teenage boys 🤩 WOW the food was 💯 the service 💯the atmosphere 💯I’m so glad I gave them another chance. My boys are over the moon again. I will be going there every week 🤞🏽because wow 🤩
I stopped by Kota Joe on a whim, drawn in by the bustling atmosphere and promise of quick, satisfying grub. While the food was decent, it didn't quite live up to the hype. However, the exceptional service made the trip worthwhile.
The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely enthusiastic about their work. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made sure we had everything we needed.
P.S on the next visit I’ll capture the food as we opted for a takeaway option.

Poor customer service, I spent 5 minutes waiting for the waiters /waitresses to attend to me till I left unattended but only a white man who came after me was attended by a white waiter. I left the place and go to the street where I was welcomed with open hands
Kota Joe Roadhouse in Alberton is our favourite drive through Roadhouse when visiting JHB. It is conveniently close to the highway, and their Kotas are delicious. Their traditional Milkshakes are a treat on itself! They also have a kiddies menu. Great funny videos and music are always playing. If you are not one to eat in your vehicle, you can sit in their vibrant restaurant.
The service was not at swift for a Roadhouse I however liked the atmosphere but the food was mid and the price was high for the meals we ordered.
It's the best Kota Joe branch, employs locals who are extremely friendly and efficient, the food is delicious.
This was a unique experience and definitely worth it's 5 stars! The service is amazing and the food is delicious and comes in good portions. An absolute vibe, can't wait to return!

Love love love Kota Joe's staff is always friendly and very attentive to all the customers, only problem is ordering takeaways it takes a bit longer compared to sitting inside and since you mostly order when you in your car for takeaways and once you receive your takeaways it's difficult to get out since there are other cars in front so if there could be a lane for cars that are not there to stay for long that would be nice yes it's a roadhouse but still as a customer im not there to sit i just need my takeaway and then I want to leave but overall I love the place.
I was here today with friends for lunch, we ordered meat and fries in bread, I didn't know what to expect but it turned out to be a delicious dish, the beef was delicate and juicy, the fries, despite being covered with meat sauce, tasted like fries, and the bread turned out to be a roll as delicate as a cloud. We liked it very much, I will gladly come back here when I have the opportunity during my next visit to South Africa. It was delicious, I ate it so quickly that I didn't have time to take a photo. I regret why I've never been to a Kota Joe restaurant before. It's not like I've never seen them but I have ignored them or maybe assumed they are expensive. The welcome was great, food👌🏻. Fresh and tasty. We even had a dessert unplanned 🙃. I hope they all have this kind of service and I hope they all have great service.
I have to say the kota that I had is one of the best ever, everything was well cooked and the cheese kota was so staffed.
